Meet full-time dreamer Ali Primrose

We are thrilled to introduce you to Ali Primrose.
She is an OC local and purveyor of artful provisions + designs. She adores living mindfully, surrounding herself with "lyke minded" people, and being thoughtful in our everyday lives. She dabbles in prop styling, interiors & creating food, art, & graphics for the "lyke minded". The motif behind her Instagram is to encourage others to look at this at-home experience as an opportunity of simple, artful living. She just wants others to feel fruitful and ultimately, create.

1. What’s the best way to start the day?

My favorite way to wake up is definitely the smell of bacon and eggs. However, since I am the cook in this family that is a rare occasion in the Primrose household... hehe. Typically it is all about snuggles in linen sheets and Phriya sleepwear with my man and our two dogs. We have a king bed and sometimes I still feel like I am back in my first LA apartment smudged in the corner in a twin. I wouldn't want it any other way. If it's a weekend, I love to wake up slow, burn some palo santo or sage, light the incense and breath / stretch. We are typically off for a surf or hike after that. On the weekdays, I'm up early for a 6 am workout and to work by 8:30. As I'm sure you've guessed it, weekends are my happy place.

2. What are your passions?

COOKING & sharing recipes. Since sharing my cooking with friends and followers, people have flocked to recreate my recipes and post lifestyle photos of their creations. It has made me more happy than I could have ever imagined. I want that feeling to live within something physical that can be treasured, gifted, and used as a resource so a cookbook is on it's way! A book that belongs sprawled open on your kitchen island, not on your pantry shelf (although it will sit pretty). A book that is an escape to aspirational tablescapes and layered courses. A book that is relatable yet inspirational.

CURATION & product + vintage. Sourcing home goods and vintage furniture is my vice. Almost an addiction. I HAVE to go thrifting at least once a week and typically come home with nothing, but the urge is fulfilled by looking for that special something. There is so much to be said about the future by looking at the past and there is nothing like the character of vintage. It is always beyond inspiring.

3. What do you wish you had more time for?

Time away from electronics. My job requires me to be on my phone or computer for more than 8 hours a day and sometimes this can affect my mental health. I implement an abundance of fresh air in my routine and spend time outside for magical inspiration and meditation. Also, working on small passions as a free creative escape!

4. What’s your favourite souvenir that you have?

Photographs. I always take way too many on our travels and love flipping through them at random times throughout the years. It is such an amazing way to reflect and see a memory in many different lights as time moves on. I'm trying to be more minimal overall in life so for me, it's less about "stuff" at this time in our lives.

5. If everything in your house had to be one color what color would you choose?

White. Is that even a color? White is my favorite interior blend. There are so many different shades and textures you can play with. I must be insane to say this with two hounds living with me and my husband's love of red wine and hot sauce, but it feels so clean and exotic all at the same time.

Everywhere. I find most of my inspiration within other cities, countries, and lands. I'm really intrigued with Italy, Peru, New Zealand, and South of France. Hoping that travel will resume soon. To be honest, I am a tad worried about what travel would mean in the near future with the current climate. Either way, we are looking forward to new adventures whether that may be local or international.

7. Did you ever have an imaginary friend?

I did not. I always made friends with the people that did though!

8. What makes you laugh?

Old comedies, my husband's laugh, and my family's sense of humor. If you know me, you know I laugh at myself a lot... haha!

9. If you could live any time during history, when would it be and why?

Mid-late 1800's. Underneath it all, I treasure a homestead lifestyle and the simple things. My southern roots might influence this. I love the idea of an unconventional ranch house with a farm and garden. There is something so romantic about this time period to me.

10. What is your favourite flower?

Scabiosa. I love the adjacency of a textured and modern bulb with feminine and loose petals.

11. What book has impacted you the most?

I'm a sucker for romantic novels. There is something so transformative about reading about love. I just love LOVE. Archer’s Voice, Regretting You, It Ends with Us, The Sea of Tranquility, One True Loves are some of my favorites.

12. What do you dream about?

Peace, the ocean, food. I dream about our future family and the place we will eventually call home.

13. Do you consider yourself a full time dreamer?

Definitely. I constantly find myself pushing the boundaries of my capability and finding my true potential. Sometimes this means I run myself thin, but I love setting goals and going after them. To me, this is dreaming.
